Soheil Zolfonoon - Setar

Soheil Zolfonoon was born in Tehran in 1972. At the age of eight, he began to learn setar under the guidance of his father, Maestro Jalal Zolfonoon. By age 15, he was studying at the prestigious School of Music in Tehran. After graduating, he began researching folk music and Persian traditional Radif. He also began composing and performing extensively with his father in Iran, Europe, the United States and Canada. He has appeared at the Lincoln Center in New York City, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Persian Art Festival in Düsseldorf, Germany.

In 1995 he moved to the United States to study World Music and sound engineering. He earned permanent residency in the U.S. due to his extraordinary musical ability. He has performed widely in the U.S., Canada, Iran, Europe and Australia in addition to lecturing and hosting workshops.
